Report from NATPE, North America’s Largest Television Marketplace
Note: You’ll probably want to read this article in it’s entirely as there are many
tips about distribution for both filmmakers and television producers.
In late January, more than 8,000 top media executives from 76 countries
participate in three days of buying and selling, featuring over 350 globally recognized
exhibiting companies and scores of buyers and acquisition executives.
As usual, many of the top winners of Accolade awards were at NATPE. Among them were
Dan Debenham of LenZ-works Productions and his associates Demetrius Graham and Troy
McClain. McClain, one of the most likeable stars of Donald Trump’s Apprentice,
is
host of LenZ-work Productions’ Accolade award-winning HomeTeam television series.
They were at NATPE promoting three new television pilots, Music for Money; Drum
Heads; and Behind the Ink. Another Accolade winner at NATPE was James Brown, producer
and host of ClubHouseTV, a television series about golf.

Report from the 2007 American Film Market & the AFI Fest
What an experience. Over 8,300 producers, buyers and distributors attend the American
Film Market (AFM) from 65 countries. There were more than 900 screenings of 537
films in 34 languages. It’s estimated that $800 million in movie deals were sealed
during the meeting. Unlike a film festival, the AFM is a marketplace where production
and distribution deals are closed. Next year’s AFM will take place from November
